Linkback options

Ok, back to feeling way stupid. Been here posting like a crazy fool and just tonight noticed that when you view a post, there is an option for Linkback.

Huh,

So I read the help section and still am at... Huh?

What is the purpose and value and how is this used in real cyberlife?

4 of the options are just an easy way to share an interesting thread on one of the listed social networking websites, Digg, del.icio.us, Technorati, or Furl. All of which have the possibility of bringing huge numbers of visitors if people like the content and don't feel that it is just a spam attempt to get visitors to your site. Digg users crash servers all the time when something gets on their front page.

The Linkback URL option just gives you the URL of the thread if you want to post it elsewhere, this could also just be copied from your browser address bar.

If that URL is posted on another website and somebody clicks it, a link back to where they clicked it will automatically be added at the bottom of the thread here. The links back and fourth between relevant content are supposed to help with search engine ranking.

I guess because nobody asked, and I didn't think about making a post to explain it yet.

Ok, so what's best one to link too? I just checked out the sites, one seemed more multi-media, one blog, etc.

What would you recommend?

It really just depends on which site you like and are familiar with, if any of them. They are all pretty good sites. I think the next vBSEO version will add even more to the list, or have an option for me to add custom ones.

I would recommend becoming famailiar with the sites, their usual content, and what they are about before trying to submit anything to them and not using the option too often.

Re: Linkback options

will do so chief.

That was the impression I got when I visited, so I will visit some more and see where some of my posts would fit well.

If it is used too often would that get tagged as spam?

Not really just for it being used too often, but if the submitted content is not really unique or interesting to the viewers, atleast for Digg, which is the one I frequent most often. It just shouldn't be a random threads asking where to move or something like that. If you browse a little you will see what type of content the users take interest in.

Some other forum admin submitted every thread on his entire forum to Digg over a couple day period then complained when they called him a spammer and banned his website. He was complaining on the vBSEO forum that they should not provide or advertise that feature in the software if he will just be banned and called a spammer for using it. People tried to explain to him what he did wrong, but he just did not get it.

K

I have been wondering through Digg. Too tired to make sense of it all right now, but I will look more tomorrow. Digg seems pretty user friendly.
