Suggestion for new sub-forum

In the "general discussion" area, how about a section devoted to debate? I love to debate and others don't like those threads, so it would allow us to get into heated arguments without upsetting people who want a more friendly exchange of non-controversial and playful conversation.

And one more I would recommend: a Flame Wars section, where you could move threads that get so out of control that they need to be separated in order to maintain the civility of the area where they erupt. Some type of containment policy is very useful in keeping the peace without actually imposing censorship. Trolls would particularly enjoy the flame war area, I suspect.

A great idea deeptrance. You have stated the situation...to the tee. I hope admin. takes your suggestion.

how does one "house train" a troll so it will scratch on the door to be let out into the flame war area? ah, if only...

Rod, it's simple. Roll up a newspaper and swat your computer monitor while a troll's post is displayed on it. Be careful not to hit any other posts or you'll accidentally end up sending innocent victims to the flame war section.

By the way, let me know if you actually TRY this. Cuz if you do, then I'll have to alert your local authorities that there's a dangerous lunatic wielding rolled-up newspapers, swatting people's computers....

Good idea, make it a subsribed forum.

I would nominate in addition to name "flame wars", "the boxing ring" or "blood alley" or "I hate you and everything you stand for".

Those are good.

But since trolls usually don't know how to spell, maybe the name should be f*cked up like "Yuo arr al a bunnch of stuped loozers!"

Re: Suggestion for new sub-forum

I like some of the concept - but want to suggest adding a bit more to it.
Okay, a place for folks to debate.
Also okay - a "flame-war" room.
However, how about exposing both for reading - and having side-bar forums where those of us who aren't comfortable joining in the real debates and body-slam forums ........
... can get together and talk about those who are in the blood-baths???
A little razzing, a little hootin' and rootin' - possibly side-bets and polls on who's winning/losing?

*lol* I love it, Wyody! Leave it to you to come up with something like that!

Re: Suggestion for new sub-forum

Glad you like it Rococco; Further, people who are involved in the debates or body-slam rooms would not have access to the side-bar until the debate or blood-bath is over!
Likewise, side-bar participants would have no posting access to the bloody fray.
One would either have to be sent to the rooms or seek a special pass to enter - and those who request entry would have to wait until current debates or debilitating massacres are over!
And also, we would need to consider a "sledge-hammer" room - for those who go totally bananas with hostility in either setting!

Right now the plan is that a debate area will be added soon, but access to it will be moderated. Those that just attack each other instead of the issue being debated will have their access revoked.
