It is good to listen to the users, they are the ones providing the forum content, the forum content provides more traffic through search engines, and the traffic from users finding us on search engines helps pay the server bills.

Moving to the Northwest. I'm wondering ahead of time if tropicals such as bamboo, luffa, etc. will thrive in such a climate. Trying to plant here in Wyoming before about June 15th is herbicidal!

Hmm, tropicals in the NW. I am taking some tropicals with me and will put them out in the summertime.

Refresh me, SGG. Taking them where with you? Sorry but the memory isn't as good as I remember.

Taking them to the Scranton area of Pa. They will live inside for the winter though.

Don't plant them outside until late in May. We can still have frost until then and you could lose them.

It's even 2 weeks later out here where I am now. The growing season is pretty short.

When is the best time to plant Iris's?

How do I find my zone?

Spring is a good time for Iris' I think. You can find your zone on any of the garden boards on line. Maybe even the weather channel site.

All our blubs are up and beautiful, the trees are pink with blossoms, and everything is growing really fast. I'm waiting for the wistera to start blossoming.:)

OK. The snow is gone. There's no more excuse. What did you plant? I've put in peas, carrots, radishes, peppers, onions, etc. Peppers (jalapeno's) are already up about 8-10 inches.

Why can't you have a garden? I will send you some Garden fresh food overnight come fall. Just no Blue Hubbard's they are heavy. Would cost to much.

I live in one of those wonderful communities. I own my my own home but we have limits. I can grow flowers. Last year, I had squash flowers. The year before, I had cucumber flowers. hahaha But we can't cut in a garden. So this year, I went to the store and bought me some tubs. I have a complete garden inside tubs.

I gotta get out of here. haha

How dare somebody stop someone from planting a garden! That is terrible.

I too have stuff in tubs. I didn't get a chance to do the vegie garden this first year we are here. Next year will be different.
We do have asparagus from the previous owners and boy, it's delish!
We have fruit trees too. I will wait to see what comes of then. Looks like apples and possibly peaches or ?? I dunno what grows up here in NEPA other than apples on the trees.

Here's a quote from a song Bob Dylan released in 1981 on the album "Infidels" - might not be precisely correct - but right enough,
"... I can see the day comin' when even your home garden is gonna be against the law.
Have to grow it on the Moon - or eat it raw"

My daughter and son-in-law bought a home with a huge yard. They said, "Come on over and cut as big a garden as you want."

They only live about a mile and a half away so that's what I'm going to do this fall. I'll till out a big area and get some clean manure and spread it. Let the snow melt it into the ground and then come spring, till it again and go ahead and plant.
