Democrats win gains in the House and Senate

The Democrats took control of the House for the first time in twelve years, and have taken gains in the Senate neck-and-neck to balance the Republican party, effectively ending four years of Republican party majority rule. Here are the election results broken down at the national and state levels.

What do you think this change in leadership will mean for us over the next few years? I honestly think it's a good thing that there's some balance back. I'll admit that personally, I'm not that fond of the Republican party so it makes me happy to see Americans voted for change.

I'm a Republican and not fond of this Republican party that is for sure. If they would have ran the campaign as conservatives instead fo moderates they may have had a shot. This Republican party is out of touch with their base. Hopefully in the next 2 years they will regroup and give us conservatives something to vote for. The Dems scare me, God only knows what they will do and how much of my pockets they are going to pick with rolling back the tax cuts and who knows what they will do to our military budget again. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope they don't mess up too much in the next couple years. At least we got rid of some of these dead weight country club Republicans but at what cost?

I hope they don't do anything stupid. Bush reminds me of Pelosi's lap dog right now, but maybe he's just tired from the campaign trail.

I would like to see the Libertarian Party grow. I think we could use atleast a 3rd major political party in the government.

The other parties just don't have the money to compete when it comes to advertising their candidate to the majority of america.

Many more people have been registering as independents lately though, which is a good start.

This is what was spent during the 2004 presidential election.

George W. Bush (R) $367,228,801
John Kerry (D) $326,236,288
Ralph Nader (Ref./indep.) $4,566,037
Michael Badnarik (L) $1,093,013
Michael Peroutka (Const.) $709,087
David Cobb (Green) $496,658

$300 million+ to get a $400,000/year job. $300 million+ wasted on John Kerry.

I think it was good for only one reason. Whatever doesn't kill you is good for you. I think the Republican party learned a valuable lesson. They are going to have to work a lot harder to stay on. The Dem's have a very short time to prove themselves. Two years is not enough especially when all there going to do is campaign. Hillary started all ready!!!
