College Graduation Rates

What percentage of students who enroll full-time with the intention of getting a bachelor's degree do actually graduate within six years?
At four-year institutions: 58%
At two-year institutions: 22%

What percentage of students who enroll full or part-time in a two-year institution (community or junior college) with the intention of getting a bachelor's degree actually do so within six years? 14%

Data from US DOEd, analyzed for the Carnegie Foundation, see Table 2 in this article, which offers much additional analysis on the reasons.

This is a meta-comment on a discussion going on elsewhere, but I thought it might be of interest to people here, as well.

Re: College Graduation Rates

Why does this make a difference?

Average annual income of workers 18 and over:
MS/PhD $74,602
BS/BA $51,206
HS $27,915
no HS $18,734

Nationally, the Northeast has the highest proportion of college graduates, the Midwest the highest proportion of high school graduates, and the South the lowest proportion of both.

From the US Census Bureau Educational Attainment in the United States: 2003.

Talmud, what was your major, if you don't mind me asking? You are fortunate, but I think a lot of it has to do with self-discipline. Where did you go to school? What were your incentives? These answers may help future graduates...many high-schoolers believe that they will be able to make it in the real world without a diploma. I know, I'm full of questions, but answers to these may benefit younger people, especially.
