Government on our time!!!

Why is it that we allow for government officials to promote there personal books or whatever on our time? Like Hillary going around promoting her book. Not only do they promote but think of all the hours they spent writing the thing. Also the traveling expenses, security, and no telling what else. I am tired of hearing people against tax cuts for them to go around spending it. What about Nancy Pelosi given a three or day party while preaching how our government is in such a shamble. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Good question.

I hope the Libertarian Party keeps growing to the point of someday being some serious competition to the Republicans and Democrats in high positions.

I agree I think its time. I will always be a republican because of there core beliefs, but I have been saying for years though we need a strong third party to stir things up.

Yes I agree, I think if the Liberterian party would get it's act together I think they could very well be a serious threat. Some states have great chapters and others are just a weird group of people. I think Neil Bortz aught to run for President

Honesty I think the better opportunity comes with the future of the green party. Libertarian's while well meaning have not been able to drink enough red bull and sprout wings. They don't have the backing of the old line press and are considered by most to be a little "off the mark".

The greens however, have the backing of Hollywood, and the old press. Being an ultra liberal organization, the radical left finds a comfortable home within the green party. The only thing holding the movement back is the idea that a green vote is the same thing as a vote for the republicans. (much the same has also held many Libertarian's back also).

With the backing of the media, and with it being a newer movement, the green party can have a huge impact. Either way, if a third party were to get enough support to win even a strong minority, then there would be the need to build a coalition with another party. This would is a wierd sort of way just lead right back to a 2 party system.

Re: Government on our time!!!

I remember viewing a documentary (can't remember the name) about Republicans/conservatives in Hollywood. It's amazing how many there are, but a lot of them try to keep a low profile. Drew Carey was one Bush supporter, yet he stated that he was probably closer to the Libertarian party. What you mentioned in the above post, Dufferz, seems to make sense to me. Welcome to the "fair forum", by the way!
