What's your home worth?

Calculate the current estimated dollar value of your home using OFHEO's House Price calculator. Input the purchase price and year, and it'll give you a current estimate.

This is also handy if you want to ponder "what if I'd purchased..." anywhere else in the country. How would your home investment return have compared?

Also check appreciation and average prices of homes in any city or state at the Federal Office of Housing Enterprise Oversight: http://www.ofheo.gov/HPI.asp

Of course, neighborhoods vary within metro areas, but it's a baseline, at least!

Okay twice I tried to go to that link and twice it crashed my computer!!!!

Guess I will have to stick with Zillow but then that one isn't too up to date.

Re: What's your home worth?

Hmm? It is kind of "clunky" (hey, it's a gov't product), but works OK. (They should have done it as a webpage, not a downloadable executable.)

Most of us have some idea of what our house is worth, but it lets you compare your appreciation to your entire metro area, and to other areas. So it's a better tool for what if scenarios, than for what is.
