moving to atlanta georgia?

i was offered a phenomonal job in atlana georgia, but i need advice on which part of atlanta i should move to, which is the safest, and most inexpensive in your opinion, ive tried apartmentratings.com but it seems like all the reviews are terrible. i want to be in town somewhere, close to malls, shopping etc. any suggestions?

Re: moving to atlanta georgia?

Since Atlanta has the second worst traffic congestion in the U.S. (right under L.A.) you need to list the general area of town where you will be working. The first commandment of living here is, "Live close to where you work", or you'll spend half of your day commuting here.

Once you list what area you'll be working in, then folks can suggest safe(r) areas near there.

I should probably add to this and say that the apartmentratings.com web site is a good reference that you used, but do keep in mind that people are something like 4-5 times more likely to get mad and write something negative, than to bother to get online to write a compliment about something. So, if you see a complex with an approval rating over 50% on there, it might actually be a decent place.

Just read the reviews carefully. If there are 100 reviews and 89 of them say that the management office is unresponsive, or that there are roaches, well, yeah, stay away from it. But sometimes you get bad tenants who do the "this place sucks" reviews on there for no real reason and that can drop a score down without valid reasons. Read the reviews carefully.
