| Re: Anyone Considered a Move to Canada?
Yesterday I was watching some YouTube music videos from the Canadian band Arrogant Worms. Most of them are pretty funny/good. I lived in Calgary for my first year of college. I really liked the people there, and the city was very nice. Seven years later, and I still miss it. I was having too much fun there to care that it was cold outside (and you know how I hate the cold). Besides, it was less cold and less icy than Anchorage. When the snow melted during a Chinook it melted all the way, instead of leaving wet snow to refreeze into ice. Thinking back, I could've spent more time exploring the city. Mostly I just went to art school, hung out afterwards, and came home, but I had so much fun there anyway. The few times I did go out and do something were pretty great, and I really liked the Devonian Gardens. If it weren't for my SAD (which at the time, I didn't know I had or that that was the problem), I never would have left. I was very happy there.

Not Canada, but I have thought of a few other places. I have considered Scotland, or Ireland. Maybe even Norway, or where the movie The Lord of the Rings was filmed... New Zealand. Heck Even France.. the wife being Italian and all. But Canada, might be a good choice, if you can get used to the cold and snow. And it would make it easy to visit family in the states if you ever want too.

I have also considered Norway and Sweden, I think that I would like either of those places being a Minnesota native. New Zealand might be cool. I saw an episode of Radical Sabbatical on the Fine Living channel with a couple that quit their jobs in California and bought an asian pear farm somewhere just outside of Auckland, New Zealand. Their new life in New Zealand looked very peaceful and relaxing. I found a link about the episode..... On TV : Radical Sabbatical : New Zealand Farm and Laguna Cooking Retreat (106) : Fine Living | |

I've considered moving to Canada, actually. Toronto specifically. My fiance's family is from there..but my family is here. My kids' real father isn't really deeply involved in our childrens' lives, they have virtually no relationship with the guy..But still. just incase..ya know? I'd feel terribly guilty. So, I'll just keep hanging out in Texas :P I do like Texas in general though.. certain places more than others. So its not so bad, maybe I'l just pick up a second home and visit frequently :P...hmm snow! |

| Re: Anyone Considered a Move to Canada? If I were ever to move to a different country, I think it would be (northeastern) Australia, close to the Great Barrier Reef. (Basically in case the united states turns into a dictatorship, especially under either George W Bush or even John McCain.) Or perhaps somewhere in the Caribbean, like the Bahamas or Saint Martin, for instance.

Do you know that the Bahamas is not in the Caribbean? :) We have been looking at France and the UK. All I know is it is time to go someplace else for awhile until things can get straightened out here. I just hope the dollar improves enough so I can convert it over to Euros or pounds.

Saint-Cyprien-Plage in France looks like a great place to call home, or even Canet-Plage. Port Ambonne looks even better! But PDX I think you would love Brest.. its a great sea port for sailing.
