vacations away from hawaii

Hawaii is considered a Paradise. Where do folks who live there go on vacation other than their own state? (other than Japan)

I would think that it would be hard to find a place where you would go Oooh!

I’ll bet Aruba would be priced fairly reasonable now a days !

I always wondered that too...personally if I lived there I probably wouldn't have much desire to leave! But I like to travel too much so I don't think I'd be quite satisfied. It seems logical to think they'd want to go somewhere with a different climate, say Alaska or something.

With the cost of living being pretty high there, and the need to flyto go anywhere, I have the feeling that I would be a prisoner in my own paradise.

We have a friend that lived in Hawaii for a couple of years...He got what he called island fever. Can't stand not being able to just leave. You have to get on a plane. Something to think about...living on an island and being confined to that many miles every day.

I know exactly what they are saying. I was in Pearl for a while. First thing I did was get a rental car. Going to tour the island. I started on Saturday morning and by 2pm, I had traveled almost every highway around the island, through the middle and I was done. Now, the rest of the time there, I actually went and looked at different things I had driven by. But after about a year, your run out of things. Next step, fly to one of the other islands. They are all very very different and lots of different things to do. About 2 years into it and your looking at Japan, the US, Thailand, Taiwan, and such.

I guess this is where I don my non-conformist hat, I've truly never been even tempted to entertain the idea of going to Hawaii

I want to visit Maui someday. When the little ones get older. Right now I don't trust them around water...they have no fear...they love hiding and not coming out when you call...and they love to take off and don't see the danger in it.

I hope hubby and I get to do something like a 2nd honeymoon to somewhere nice...on our 30th anniversary. Which will be next year. There are lots of lds in hawaii. The cultural center is run by the lds.
