What do I need to bring for a military move to Hawaii?

My family and I are moving to Hawaii due to the Army. My husband will leave before my son and I and I am not sure what I need to pack in our suitcases. I know it will take a while for the things to get to Hawaii so does anyone have suggestions?

They should be doing two shipments for you: (1) Your household goods, and (2) Your "hold baggage." Obviously, you'll need to pack personal items and enough clothes for about a week or so, but most -- if not all -- of your remaining clothing should be shipped in your hold baggage shipment. Your hold baggage should get there no later than 10 days after you leave your stateside base. Don't know what it's called in the Army, but in the Air Force we have the Traffic Management Office (TMO) Outbound section, which handles shipment of personal property from the base to your next destination. Contact them and see if they can provide you with more information.
