Re: Appliance ideas

I was listing the things in the kitchen and pantry. I've had a lot on my mind since Jan. 31, 2007.

Thanks for the tip. I am about to throw my piece of doodoo Mr. Coffee one out the window. The basket in the top is finicky and if it is not just right, the water backs up in the basket and overflows with grounds everywhere.

Re: Appliance ideas

My stove, fridge, dish washer, washer & dryer, and freezer are Frigidaire. They can be serviced locally.

FYI: A friend on another forum just had her Jenn-aire to explode & catch on fire in her kitchen.

We have a glass top Frigidaire Stove. Works great!!! Our Whirlpool(?) fridge, on the other hand, is a piece of doodoo. Repair guy was called out to fix something that went out, and he said "It happens to all of them", then right after that the ice maker stopped making ice, and now I noticed that the plastic walls inside are cracking. BTW, it is only 5 years old!!!

I was wondering because I know you can put to much Freon in a frig an like a car some times they can explode . but a stove makes more sense , gas fire

Re: Appliance ideas

Our new house has a Kenmore Range that is 2 years old. I don't like it.
The burners don't go down to a simmer. Well at least not down to what I would like. It's a gas stove. The previous owner had problems with it when it was only 9 months old. The repair was for the clock or something like that.
I hear that if you use the self-cleaning on the oven, the heat can mess up the computer for the clock and such.

What I would give to have a gas stove. I don't like the electric we have here and most places have electric.

Re: Appliance ideas

If you can afford it (both money and space) a chest freezer is a delight. It makes Costco meat shopping possible without (for example) eating pork chops every day for two weeks.

I had the electric glass top in Florida. I liked it very much. One problem though with it, the paint on the burner parts were wearing off. It was only 3 years old.

Ours is a Fridgidaire and we use a razor blade and softscrub to clean the surface and the paint on the burners has not come off at all. It is about 4 years old now.

It sounds as though PDXnative has a stove similar to mine. We got ours in 2003.

Mine is a really nice stove. I have enjoyed it.

we will never go back. If we bought a house that had a gas stove, I think we would convert it to electric so we could buy another glass top.

I had a Tappan gas stove in 1989-1992 when I was married. I had to clean the oven myself.

I much prefer having a self cleaning oven. My current stove is wonderful.
