Re: photos for you!

Looks like everything is positioned about the same. The recess lighting might be tricky with the wood ceiling. Love the stove and vent. Not all the appliances are stainless steel...I think they should all be the same surface. Also I would like to see a farmer's sink in the kitchen...you know the ones with the wrap around in the front with a design similar to the one over the window. Also the counters are a little light...not quite enough contrast for me. I like the dark granite or marble. Back splash behind counters is pretty but would be nice to have a little darker accent in those small middle tiles not a lot just a small accent. Always wanted a small wood roll down on the end of the counter to hide counter appliances. I think they may call them appliance stations. Nice just to open a roll up door use the toaster or blender, clean it and close the door. Instead of trying to get it back into a cabinet shelf.:) Some kinda of detail on the back splash above stove would be nice too. Have seen some very creative ones.

Over all like the kitchen and the layout. When are you starting it?

Izzy

Re: photos for you!

That picture caught my eye on another forum. I wish we were starting right now but we need to finish outside first. All the excavating is done and the water problems are fixed! Now we need to side the house. I hope we can start the kitchen after that.
I want silestone for the countertops and I think I will tile the backsplash.
I put all the appliances away. I have so much room in the closets to do that but a little appliance station is nice to have. I think I am staying away from the stainless appliances. Too many fingerprints!!!!! I probably will go with black ones when the time comes. The farm sink sounds nice too!

I like the flooring on the "after" pic. Did you decide on a floor yet?

as for the stainless.. I thought they would show fingerprints too but a lot now have a finish that keeps that from happening. I would think black would show more...maybe you should go to an appliance store and get your hands dirty or greasy... walk up and start grabbing and touching.... (no not the sales man!!!)... but see which show more prints. Black? or Stainless?

Oh gosh I just went through the same ordeal. My better half wanted stainless and I thought black would look less dirty. After going back and forth back and forth I opted for black. I hope I did the right thing.

We rented a place in Baton Rouge with stainless steel appliances (ours were in storage) and I went insane trying to clean them with the 'special' spray. The stainless steel looks so nice, but after having a trial run, I love our black side-by-side refrigerator so much better. Very easy to clean and it's difficult to tell even if it is dirty.

I love hearing that, I'm always second guessing.

Re: photos for you!

Hi guys,
I did get my hands all over the appliance man, oops, the appliances LOL LOL I don't like the stainless at all.

We also haven't gotten far enough to do anything in the kitchen just yet.
I would like that kinda floor in there, and I think the black appliances will be nice. Hmm, maybe even the almond.. I dunno!
We have so much work going on around the outside of the house right now,
inside will have to wait. I did paint our bedroom and the guest bedroom and they came out great!
