I just posted over there about the lds in Idaho theme. There are 33 pages on the subject of lds. Talk about wearing out a subject...and this is from a lds person. Shhhhhhhh! Tired of hearing about it. Izzy

I worked in a small town in Idaho for a while. I found it to be a nice little place. No, I didn't ask anybody what their religeon was, nor did anybody there ask me what mine was. I got along fine with neighbors over the fence. I got along with the local business', buying groceries, gas and such. Never had a problem. A couple years after I had moved from there, I was told about the "LDS" problem. I said what problem? The guy said, If your not LDS, you can't survive in that town. I thought, "How the heck did he come up with something like that?" Some people might wear their religeons on their shoulders, but I certainly didn't see it.

| Re: So glad this is not like C-D Idaho There's the thing, 53. You don't see it. It's there. All over western Wyoming, southeastern Idaho, all of Utah ... it's there. When I first moved to the Rockies, it took me a couple of years to see it - and then realized it'd been there all along ... I just wasn't conditioned to see it. I used to have some favorite camping areas in Idaho. Then, I moved there. Never again! I don't even like the idea of driving through ... or even flying over!! Peace.

Would you be a little more 'pacific' and elaborate about the 'It's there'? I think I know what you're saying, but I don't want to jump to conclusions. You seem to have a definite opinion, though!

I once lived in Salt Lake for a few months back in 73. I thought it was the nicest place. People were friendly and I wasn't LDS back then. We moved to be closer to most of our relatives in CA. I also use to spend the summer in American Fork at my aunt's house. I was a hippy then...head band, pouncho, boots, and all:) Folks did like at me kinda of strange. But I looked like I was straight from Berkeley Campus...so I don't blame them. But still they were all very nice to me. Even when I let all the dogs out of the dog pound:) I know what you mean by "It's There" but there are a lot of those "It's There" about all kinds of things if you're looking for them and want to make an issue out of it. Me I just look for the best in folks. Well...until they get my back up:) I could say "It's There" about where I live now. I live in a small town in the CA foothills. Everyone knows everybody and they all hang out together. There isn't a lot of lds in our area so that isn't it. The folks are just clanish in a Irish kinda way. There is the ranchers who have been here 3 generations and the town folks who all meet at either round table, Burger King, Starbucks, or at church. I still have not met half the folks on my street. Of course we all live on acreage. I know the neighbors on either side, and that is it. Been here 3 years. I haven't had anyone local over for dinner yet. So there is "It's There" you're talking about and the folks doing it are just being themselves not realizing their being clanish. And we're not even talking Mormons. Just a small ranching community. So let's not make the lds solely responsible for "It's there" :) Izzy

Izzy, I love finding out more about you! A hippie?!? Never would have guessed...just goes to show that all of us are truly unique! Have you ever tried to get to know your neighbors? Sometimes people keep waiting for someone else to take the first step. Just curious.
