Does Idaho have bars or state stores for booze?

Does Idaho have bars or state stores? I can remember many, many years ago. I was in Salt Lake, Utah. My dad had to buy his hard booze at a state store and then take it to a club to drink. I was young so I don't remember all the details. But Idaho being so close to Utah, I was wondering how it works there?

Yes, Idaho does indeed have state liquor stores where you must go if you're wanting something harder than beer or wine.

We do have bars, however they only are allowed to serve beer, wine or anything premixed on Sundays, otherwise you can get what you want there.

Thinking of converting again Izzy? ;) (j/k)

It all makes no sense to me as one can get just as blitzed on beer/wine as they can the hard stuff on a Sunday.

Hey, every once in a while I drink an O'douls the red one. Just craving the taste of a cold beer. Haven't found a no booze wine yet, that I like.

Church and booze just don't go together:) Life is still good.

If I'm the designated driver and I feel like drinking I just order whatever I'm drinking "virgin", still get close the to taste and still legal to drive.

Yes, I love a virgin, margarita with salt please.:) The fun is still there, just minus the hang over.

Speaking of the state controlling things... Why do they feel they need to control liquor stores? Do we all think the government can do a better job than private citizens?

Much the same as South Carolina. They passed a law saying that all bars had to use the little bottles (like an airline uses) so that they were sure that every person got exactly the same thing. Not so. When you check into it, you find that SC has a bottle tax. They tax alcohol by the bottle, no matter what size it is. So they banned free pour and rake in the revinue off of each bottle.

States that have what's called ABC stores (state liqour) are simply set up so the state makes more money and it's easier to regulate. On step above prohabition.

Same is Washington, state stores only above wine and beer. Not sure why they insist on doing it. The only exception is the tribal land, where they are answering to nobody.

Ya know, that's one thing I've not checked out when I've been on the reservation. I know there's no alcohol in the casino, might have to check out their store. I'd imagine they might as it's a sovereign nation?

Well sovereign nation or not, there's no liqour sales there as it's "fire water". It seems that Native Americans are more prone to alcoholism than others.
