How do you move to a major city like Chicago?

I am a 22 year old student who wants to move up to Chicago for school next year. I have never been, and plan on going this summer to check things out...I have always loved big cities and think that New York is my favorite. I have also been to San Francisco. My question is how do you move from a smaller place like Orlando to a big place like Chicago. I probabaly wont have much money a couple hundred to a couple thousand, I plan on student loans for school...and I also wont know anyone. I have an uncle close to my age, but he is outside the city, about 45 mins, and I plan on living in the city. So how do you just move and adjust and survive such a risky move as that? What are some tips and some things I need to know?

You better be able to find a job to be able to support yourself, before you take the plunge.
