If I lived in Indiana till Nov then moved to KY for the last two months which

state do I pay taxes to? You see, I had residence in IN while I was serving in Iraq, but the post is located in KY. I moved to KY from IN in November and now its tax time and I'm unsure which state I need to file with. Is it both, or just one?

You need to file taxes in any state in which you earned money. (I'm assuming these states have a state income tax) In this case since you were a resident of Indiana and Kentucky for some part of the year you will have to pay tax in both. (Note: I am not a tax expert, this is simply my interpretation of the rules, use this information at your own risk.)

Once you get all of your tax forms back, do yourself a favor and bring them all in to HRBlock or another tax service and let them figure it out. It doesn't cost you a lot of money and they do all the work for you.

In other words, let a person who specializes in taxes answer these questions for you and make them do the work of filling out the forms etc.
