| Gary Indiana
My sis in law is from Gary Indiana, Anybody out there a long time resident of this town? She has not been back for a while, but wondering if things have changed much.

In between the clouds of smoke I could see smoke stacks, what appeared to be chemical spills on the ground, and lots and lots of very large tanks. Apparently, there must have been residential areas sandwiched in there somewhere... Sorry... Guess I don't have fond memories. Did go back to suburban southside of Chicago for a day a couple of years ago and the most vivid memory was the grime that was on all the buildings. Made me wonder what the heck caused that. I've never seen any cities that had buildings and signs that looked like my garage floor. Guess I took a class for a few days in central north Chicago and it didn't seem as grimy... What's up? Sorry if I've hijacked the thread...

Hey, there is a reason she moved to Washington and her family moved somewhere else! I wonder who Gary was?

To be more accutrate, Gary is a prime example of the decline of the manufacturing industry and the effect this decline has on a populace that depends on the manufacturing industry as its bread and butter.
