The state with It's own little secrets. I remember going through the Flint hills, I'll tell you those Prairie's are not Flat. LOL But the Beauty of them is something you have to see for yourself. The you have Atchison, That happens to be the home of the 1 and only Amelia Earhart. And Not just her but Bob Dole, and Dwight D. Eisenhower, to name just a few. The State consist of over 82,000 sq miles of vast open spaces. That Include the Smoky Hills and the Gypsum Hills. It has 2 time zones Central and Mountain. And the avg rain fall is 26.5 state wide but it actually is very diffrent area to area. If your in the southeast area of the state rain fall is almost 45 inches Annually While the western Border just barely has 15 inches of rain.

I know the thread is a little dated, but I had to throw in my 3 cents worth (inflation) I worked for a well digger in Western Kansas. What an experience. There's a water table there that is terrific and you can pretty much drill where you want. It is so flat there it's unbeilivable. We'd go out and the farmer would say, drill here. I'd look and say, "Don't you want it up on the hill?" He'd look at me funny and say, "This is the hill." I couldn't tell. haha I worked for a father son team. The old man used to hire a witch. The son would just throw a hammer. Son found water every time by just throwing a hammer out there and where ever it fell, he'd drill. Always got water. haha

I've heard of the practice. I thought it was called a witching rod. A y shaped rod. You hold on to the forked end and when you're near water the end of the wood rod would bend down. Is that what we're talking about here. What kind of wood is used? Izzy

It can be done with a rod in a Y shape yes. I know several people that can do it with just a simple stick off the ground. I myself have 2 copper rods I use. Not only do they work on water but I have successfully found underground wires with them as well. I honestly don't know how it works exactly But it does work. I have gotten several explanations but none are the same. |
