Katrina and property taxes

With the recovery from Katrina and all the damage along the gulf coast, can you get a piece of ocean front property at a reduced cost compared to pre-Katrina?

Re: Katrina and property taxes

Hey, guys, in my opinion, I would definitely try to get some Mississippi or Alabama coastal property rather than Louisiana...unless you are into fishing, and even then, from what I've heard, it's not the best, either.

I tried to find a place to go swimming in the ocean when we lived in Louisiana and there was not one place along the coast. The only place I've been swimming is the Black Cyprus Bayou and anything white that you wear will be a nice shade of rich brown when you're done swimming!

Is that due to the mighty mississippi?

Yes, in fact, the silty water of the Mississippi and everything that comes down it all the way from Itasca, Minnesota, makes it very murky and dark.

Would hate to take a mouthfull of that water! eek. I would want to live the waterfront, but with blue water on a nice day.
