| Moving to Maryland?
I have been torn between moving to Arizona or Maryland. Maryland would be easiest, as I already have family there in the Annapolis area. They have offered help with moving, ie a place to stay until I find one, etc, but so far my research on housing has shown that it is extremely expensive. My family in Maryland has advised NOT to move to the Baltimore area, but do move somewhere between Annapolis and D.C. if possible. Any suggestions? So far, rentclicks.com and apartments.com have revealed little below $1000/Month as far as apartments go. Any suggestions? I am looking for something in the $800/month range. I already found several affordable areas in Arizona, and job possibilities, but the sheer expense and trouble of moving there compared to moving to Maryland from Ohio, plus knowing Maryland and having family there, makes it an easier move. I love both states, but it seems Maryland is going to be too expensive. Thanks for your suggestions! |

Baltimore is number 2 on the latest "Most Dangerous Cities" list for populations over 500k, so your family probably gave you good advice there. 1 Detroit, MI 2 Baltimore, MD 3 Memphis, TN 4 Washington, DC 5 Philadelphia, PA 6 Dallas, TX 7 Nashville, TN 8 Charlotte, NC 9 Columbus, OH 10 Houston, TX

I havent necessarily decided against Colorado, but my best job opportunities right now are in Maryland and Arizona, plus the family in MD helps. T.S., just out of curiosity, if you have that crime list handy, where is Phoenix and Denver on it?

I have a friend who lives near Annapolis, it's a little better (different county, different crooks - don't trust any of these crew) than the I95 corridor. But the closer you get to DC, the more you're going to find problems. And unless you really like politics all the time, stay out - it gets in everywhere. Ok, it can be pretty in some places, there are nice people who live here, there is a whole lot to do and you can get nearly anywhere with the highways (do you like super-highways? and we still get gridlocked!) Oh, and $800 for rent is extremely unlikely. It's more like $1000 for an efficiency. Townhouses start aroudn $250-300,000 and up. My suggestion: try Arizona. Too dry for my tastes, but there was a really pretty place a little outside Tombstone - actually had green grass!
