Maryland vs. virginia

Seems most influential people who work in DC live either in Maryland or Virginia. Which state has the most affordable housing and is considered the best place to live?

Re: Maryland vs. virginia

I think that Virginia is more affordable. I don't see much appeal in Maryland. For the most part, it's got the same amount of things to do as Delaware does (=nothing), for much higher costs. Virginia is not that expensive, and it is far prettier. They have some more things to do too. It's a bit warmer then Maryland.

Oh I don't know about that. Northern Virginia (NoVa) has even worse traffic than MD and that's saying something. NoVa is also extremely high in cost of living - probably the highest in the state, and also has the heaviest population density.

As to whether there's anything to do in MD... you're near the beltway, you can get anywhere. Whatever there is in DC or VA to get to can be easily gotten to from MD. And depending on where you are in MD you also have proximity to Annapolis and/or Baltimore - for those who think cities are fun places to go to.

Is Va prettier? a lot of it is, probably. MD has a lot of trouble with urban sprawl and really bad management. Yeah, MD can be expensive to live in. I think the taxes are actually worse than Mass"tax"achusetts!
