looking to move (back) to boston?

i'm a native bostonian who has been living in atlanta since the age of 8. i'm thinking very hard about moving back to boston to be closer to family there. i have 2 young boys now and would like some (impartial) information from people who have recently moved regarding: apartments, commute, insurance, etc. i'm in the auto insurance industry and would like my commute to stay under an hour. please help! :)

I have lived in Boston for 25 years and I am dying to get out of this place, especially after visiting beautiful cities like Boulder, Salt Lake City etc. It is horrible here. The scenery is disgusting, everything is overpriced from homes & apartments (2 bedroom upwards of $1500) to car insurance ($1800 a year for someone with 1 accident 5 years ago) & milk ($4.99 a gallon for Hood milk in South Boston). The traffic is constant and unbearable, the public transport system is an even bigger mess - constant delays more than 30 minutes, broken down and dirty trains and buses that are expensive to ride. Gas prices havent been under $3 a gallon in like a year or more....

Stay outta here! You can use the money you save to come visit your family.

I would consider New Hampshire instead. You could work in Manchester with little commute and drive an hour to Boston anytime.
