Where to move around Boston??

We are moving back to the Boston area and are looking for a great city to live in. My boyfriend will be going to Bridgewater State (which is like 30 min. south of Boston) and I will be working in Boston. We don't want too long of a commute for either of us. Also, we are moving from my home town (Portland, Oregon) which has a ton of stuff going on. I'd love to find a similar area with people who are free thinkers. A place with independent restaurants and cafes, live music going on many nights, and cool unique bars. (I don't want to live somewhere that only has a 99, Unos and Dunks, I need culture!) I am earth friendly and would like to live in a community that strongly supports recycling and being green. I'm also pretty liberal, so I'd like to be surrounded by similar minded folks. We love to go out, and want to be around a lot of people in our age group (early 20's)
I think that's all...haha! I know there's a niche for us somewhere, we're just struggling to find it.

I think anywhere around Cape Cod might be good for you but pricey. I live in NH and we have a strong recycling program in southern NH. You might get a map of the southern area of Massachusetts and look up the Chamber of Commerce for each town. You might also consider the northeast part of Rhode Island too. Houses are less expensive but I don't know about the other things. Good Luck.
