taxes in massachusetts

I have heard Massachusetts called taxachusetts.

What is the tax stuction there? Income tax, sales tax, both? Do most people feel they are over taxed? (well, typically everybody feels that, but is it a hot topic at election time especially?)

I hear the taxes are high there too.. and I know the cost of living there is so high. Too bad because I love it there and would move to Southborough in a heartbeat! I just can't afford it!

Re: taxes in massachusetts

Massachusetts also has a sales tax and a state tax. The property tax is also very high in most towns. I found that a lot of crooked things go on in the name of government. You have the water shed act in Weymouth, Quincy, and other surrounding towns. There is also the windfall tax law, that is one of the worst acts of stealing from the people. A lot of things need to be looked into before any normal person thinks of moving there.

So, are you saying that only abnormal people should live there?

There are parts of the area that are very nice! (Nice prices too).
When I moved tho they were really getting congested traffic wise. It is a gamble every day during commute time on rt 9 and 495 if you will reach your destination.

My son wants to move to Mass. when he gets out of the Navy in 08.
He isn't worried about the taxes.
