| Upper Peninsula State of Superior
I once read about people in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan trying to turn it into a seperate state called Superior. Is this still going on? What do you think about the Upper Peninsula becoming a seperate state?

the concept is still alive, although not very seriously. some do take it seriously, of course, but its not something you hear about alot up there. actually, i think its a great idea in theory- as i do feel that we yoopers are not properly represented by our government and upper/lower peninsula are like 2 different worlds. however, we are economically dependent on the rest of michigan. i think a lot of people realize that, and thats why the concept of UP succession isnt taken really seriously. |

I wouldn't support any state division like that, it just wouldn't seem right to me. I don't think becomming a seperate state would benefit them much. The largest city in the UP is Marquette and only has about 21,000 people.
