| moving to duluth minnesota...help?
I am relocating to a city outside of Duluth Mn called Cloquet. I was just curious as to if anyone has any info or input as to how the area is and what the people are like. Any information about the area would be greatly appreciated.

Cloquet is about 10 miles south of Duluth on the Interstate (35). It is an ok size town. It has it's own Walmart and some other stores. There is also a casino nearby,. It is a very pretty area and there is a State Park nearby. But BBrrrrrr in the winter and there is a lot of snow in this area.

The people are your average smaller-town-nice-people. The town doesn't have too much as for shopping and restaurants, etc. But certainly your average grocery store and Walmart. They definitely have houses for less than others in the area. You'll get more for your buck in there. Don't know where you're coming from, but this time of year is still pretty chilly. Thankfully spring should head our way soon! Good luck, I'm guessing you'll like it there!

I suppose your chances of getting this reply are pretty slim, since it's been a few months since your inquiry, but here's my input. You can think of Cloquet as kind of a "suburb" of Duluth. The area in general is pretty nice, and although I'm not totally familiar with Cloquet, it's close enough to Duluth that you can assume you will have easy access to most of the services you may be used to having in any decent sized city. The area, especially in Duluth, can be quite touristy during the summer months when people from the Twin Cities come up for camping and fishing trips on the weekends. There is a lot to offer nearby if you are an outdoors kind of person; nature trails, downhill skiing, rock climbing, fishing, camping, boating, etc... I wouldn't say winters are terribly colder than anywhere else in the state, but they do seem to last a little longer than in the Twin Cities. In Cloquet you are more likely to find long-term residents than you are in Duluth which has a significant student population due to the number of universities in the area. I'm sorry to say though you may have trouble meeting new people here as it's a fairly isolated region and many people just don't have the interest.
