THAT SUCKS!!!! I was hoping to meet you and show you around Portland. Well, I guess I will just have to move to Mississippi (that sucks spelling that. Flashbacks to grade school) and you can show me around :) I think you took the better choice. The school option would have been a long time before it paid off and with the food industry, it is always a gamble... and lots of swing shifts. I want to see roadkill pics also. Take lots!!!!! You can call it "Roadkill Across a America: A Photo Essay"

Congrats Pan! Enjoy the trip...when do you leave? Are you staying in hotels along the way...or are you switching off driving? I hate traveling with a man driver. They never want to stop for anything. My hubby use to say...hold on...we will stop at the next rest stop. Got there, it was closed:) Hope you get to stop and enjoy the scenery. I always have to count the I's in Mississippi. If you don't have four of them...you messed up...grade school memories. We travel across country several times for summer vacation. Remember stopping in New Mexico and getting jumping beans in those little plastic boxes. Listen to them for several states. Anyone else have memories of going cross country? How many times have you been across Pan? Izzy

They gave me 30 days for the move and to report for work. That would give me the 2 week notice for any current work I maybe doing, and 2 weeks to pack and move and get settled. Its a 17 hour drive from where I am now, I dont need to stop, but I will in Lake Charles LA. So we can visit with the wifes family in Deridder for a day or so, and then head on our way. When is College Spring Break in full swing? and when does it end? That could toss a wrench in any plans on my date to move. Anyone know if highway 90 has been reopened where it meets I-10 in Lousiana and crosses over to Mississippi? I am heading out on Tuesday the 13th, with a planned arrival of the 15th of March 2007. ( IZZY your gonna be known as Snidely Whiplash from now on.. for the derailing of many topics.. lol ::SMIRK:: ) - I opened another topic for you.. Traveling Memories.

If you don't mind my asking (since I know nothing about your line of work), what special skills do you have, that your company would go to so much trouble and expense, to move you and your family? Curious minds want to know. (It's my experience that people often underestimate the skill needed for a job that they have never done...that's why I ask.) Wendy |

I have worked as a Police/Security Officer on a military post for almost 2 years now. I will be working security for a Casino. I set up and ran the Fort Bliss Lodging Security program there until it was deemed not nessary by MWR, and was closed due to funding. I then worked gate security, and did some patrol work on post. Due to funding my job as well as a few others was cut. So I was left looking for work. I was either A: over Quilified, B: Did not speak Spanish or C: under trained for the jobs here. I did not want to be a city cop, or work for the border patrol, two options I had here. I have also been a truck driver, for Swift, and a local outfit All Star Trucking. I have also worked construction and sheetmetal. I have also worked while in Boise ID for Micron, mainly in the HTML department.I have owned 2 business, one a game store called Gamers Guild, and another known as 1337 cafe, a internet cafe, geared towards internet gaming and compitition. The city wont support such endevours, many after me have opened and closed within a year... I lasted 3 as a game store and 2 as a Internet cafe. I am a jack of all trades, I have an exceptional IQ, learn quick but get bored easy. Jobs like Security or Police work, offer new challenges each day.. and it fits my personality.

It is really important to work in a field that suits you. We spend so many hours of our day, at work. I have a friend that has been a Yogurt shop owner, a manager at a tune up shop, a car salesman, a realtor. He is really smart, but has itchy feet:) He has owned several homes and does well by his family. A jack of all trades means you will never be out of work. I too have had several careers:) Izzy

My Training route was from Phoenix Az to Pueblo, CO. that would be my primary route once training was over, but they changed it to Larado Tx and back, so I could be home more often. Then they started deverting me all over the place and I would be out 6 weeks and only get 3-4 days home. So I left Swift and did the local thing until DOT shut them down.. why im not sure. Was good money though, and I did get to see some great country, and then again some not so great too. but you take the good with the bad. The local thing was drop and hook all day long, pick up at the rail yard and drop to local businesses. pick up the empty and drop at a yard for a company driver to pick up. Still have my Class A with all the endorsements.. except Hazmat, no need for it unless I start to drive again. Besides its 80 bucks for that endorsement alone... part of the homeland security requirements. As for Wendy's question... Humm Im not sure.. this does sound like me.. ESTPs generally have the following traits: * Action-oriented * Live in the present moment * Dislike abstract theory without practical application * Like to see immediate results for their efforts * Fast-paced and energetic * Flexible and adaptable * Resourceful * Seldom work from a plan - make things up as they go * Fun to be around * Highly observant * Excellent memory for details * Excellent people skills * Good-natured * Excellent ability to see an immediate problem and quickly devise a solution * Attracted to adventure and risk * May be flashy or showy * Like initiating things - not necessarily following them through to completion But the last one not so much.. I get great satisfaction in a job well done. I can also over plan somthing.. try to pre-think all the problems that may arise and be prepaired for them. Like this move.. I have tried to plan out every detail so as to make it as smooth as I can for my family, and to assure success. I do tend to rely on my own senses.. over someone elses facts or figures. Oh and by the way thanks for those links, I find them interresting.. And the next link I was reading this does in fact sound like me.. The ESTP often has trouble in school, especially higher education which moves into realms where theory is more important. The ESTP gets bored with classes in which they feel they gain no useful material which can be used to get things done. The ESTP may be brilliantly intelligent, but school will be a difficult chore for them. The ESTP needs to keep moving, and so does well in careers where he or she is not restricted or confined. ESTPs make extremely good salespersons. They will become stifled and unhappy dealing with routine chores. ESTPs have a natural abundance of energy and enthusiasm, which makes them natural entrepreneurs. They get very excited about things, and have the ability to motivate others to excitement and action. The can sell anyone on any idea. They are action-oriented, and make decisions quickly. All-in-all, they have extraordinary talents for getting things started. They are not usually so good at following through, and might leave those tasks to others. Again I sometimes dont finish stuff.. but most of the time I do.. I like to see the finished product or project.. I get a good feeling froma job well done. Wendy, my wife says ( http://www.personalitypage.com/ESTP.html ) this is me no doubt.. good job on pegging me. =) My Wife is a Finisher.. so we make a great team.. lol

<good job on pegging me. =)> How 'bout that <patting myself on the back>, especially since I have never met you, and only read a few of your posts ;-). Try this: http://www.gesher.org/Myers-Briggs/k...t%20sorter.htm Remember, people can be more or less blended, so you wouldn't necessarily have all of the characteristics, of your "type." For example, I'm midway between an INTJ (scientist) and an ENTJ (fieldmarshal). Depending upon the job, I adapt. Wendy |

As for having trouble in school, which is OT... My personal belief is that schools were designed by and for SJs (reliable, highly organized types). NTs, who are scholarly, can fit in. But, the highly active SP types like to be moving and doing, all the time. In a hunter-gatherer society, they would be chasing game, making tools, scouting for the tribe, etc., but they simply aren't suited to sitting still. I think a lot of SJ kids (especially boys) are drugged, nowadays, to get them to sit still, in school. Can they focus and learn, this way? What do you think? Wendy |

Wendy I dropped out of School in the 9th Grade got my GED went to community college for a couple years. Got my degree in Criminal Justice from EPCC. at 17 got married joined the military, did the whole army thing. I have never liked how public schools teach, I think kids should be taught like in college... even from a young age... I also think there should be a better schedule.. I have always been a night person.. so is my oldest boy.. if he had afternoon classes and a college like schedule he would be better off, and learn more, I am sure of it.
