Pan, Would really like to see the pics...but...It won't let me view your gallery. Do you have to turn on a share feature? It wants me to sign in to view. Izzy

Y'all young'uns look alike to me. Good looking pics. Shucks, Gulfport looks better now than the town I left in Wyoming. Izzy, I think it's not asking you to sign in ... it's asking you to sign up. So, I did and on the first page, there was something covering a box so, had to enter a password again.

Nice photos!!! Is the destruction from Katrina? Our new sailboat just came from Mississippi. Been damaged there, got fixed up and is good as new now. Looks like a nice area to sail in.... unless a hurricane is happening.

Oh yeah, if you are using Kodak to print your digital photos, you got to check out York Photo!!!! 10 cents a photo and the best quality we have come across. I saw an independant review that ranked them as #1. I thought, no way could they have good quality prints for 10 cents each. I was wrong. Excellent quality!!!! We tried Kodak for awhile but their quality was a little blah.... www.yorkphoto.com

Hey Pan... Thanks for sharing the photos. So sad what has become of that area due to Katrina. I am sure with time it will be rebuilt and one again be a busy place. The beach is beautiful! and it is nice to know what you look like

Heh.. damn no more sneaking up on ya now.. lol. Only problem is Condos are popping up where old houses used to be, and other beach side landmarks, like the sharkhead shop.. and one took over the old puttputt golf and go-cart course that was near the beach. And now that Mississippi passed the land based gambling bill, more Casinos will be coming to the area as well. More jobs I guess.. and maybe soon enough maybe they can lower our taxes because the Casinos will bring in much of the funding.. one can only hope, right? I see Mississippi as the Vegas on the gulf not to long down the line. Dont know if thats a good thing though. we shall see. I'll be posting moe pic's.. some of the recovery, and new things that have come into being.. I guess the good of Katrina, if there is any.. and more of the bad. There is still trash all over the place.. I hope the city gets around to collecting it soon. I will also try to get some of the Casinos here, so you all can see them in all thier glory.

I did hear it would be the ATLANTIC CITY of the South.. It will be a very long time before it is anything like Vegas I am sure. I was unsure about the Casinos that were popping up all over in So CA and then realized it wasn't so bad. I even enjoyed going in now and then. I liked the Entertainment it brought... lots of the "old" bands and such.

Great pictures, Panterro! Mississippi is way ahead of New Orleans when it comes to rebuilding the area and cleaning it up. It's soooo much better than when we went through Gulfport last fall. If we go to any casinos, we'll be watching for you.

Yeah since we have been here I am already seeing improvements, and thats only a week. The old McDonalds at the edgewater mall, was cleared yesturday. I hear they are going to build it back. I have a question for you though Kimber.. In Texas Dennys and Waffle Houses are big huge places able to sit 75 people or more.. here they are all tiny little places able to sit 12-25 people.. whats up with that? Also have you noticed an obese problem down here, seems everyone down this way is over weight? why is that? I thought with a beach everyone would be more thin, and fit.. beach bodies I guess.

Hey Pan, I got to see the photos...You look like a nice guy:) You wife is a pretty lady. You both look happy on that white beach. I haven't seen a beach that white before. California Beaches have gray/ or tan sand. The town looks a little quite. Abandon in some ways. But the sand and sunshine look inviting. Great pics. We had a scare today. I had my grandson over night because my son was celebrating his birthday yesterday. My daughter-in-law was on her way up the hill to pick up our grandson and fell a sleep at the wheel. She ran into the back of a jacked up pickup...or should I say under it in her little mazda. Totaled the front of the car. I just spoke to him on the phone and the cat scan showed no internal injuries from the accident...but showed an abnormally enlarged area to one part of her brain. Not related to the accident...she will need further scans and test. She may need plastic surgery on her forehead she had some pretty nasty cuts and wounds. She is talking and walking...shakey on her feet... We are keeping our grandson until futher notice and he will be going with us to Disneyland and may be staying with us for several weeks. This will free up her parents, and our son, to take care of her. We count our blessings that it didn't happen after she picked up our grandson, and that her abnormal brain scan has been discovered, and she can get early treatment for whatever is causing it. Thank the lord. Izzy

But seriously, we only have one Denny's and that's in Fort Walton Beach...haven't been there, yet...too many other places to check out! Every Waffle house (I think there's actually one for each mile you travel!) has been small, but even in Baton Rouge, they were small. As far as the people here and the weight, there are about the same amount of skinny and heavier people as Baton Rouge...pretty balanced. With that hearty southern food, though, it's bound to add some meat to anyone! If I had to guess, a lot of black people aren't drawn to the sun, (they already have dark skin) like I am...and that seems to be where most, if any, of the activity is happening...like swimming, volleyball, surfing. They supposedly call our area the Redneck Riviera...which insinuates a negative connotation and a lower cost of living, in general. Mostly middle class people who love life. It's just not as commercialized like Destin, Daytona Beach or West Palm Beach. The people here are real, not as materialistic, from what I've seen, and we feel as though we belong here. I think a lot of people who live next to the ocean sometimes take it for granted and are tired of it or were born around here and aren't beach people. There's just something about the beach community that is so laid-back and relaxed...I loved Texas, but this is even better.
