Lincoln airport

Ok, hope someone could help me understand one thing.

In lincoln there is a lake with nice homes, docks, condo's, looks very nice, but it is right next to the lincoln airport.

Just does not seem that having jet noise overhead matches with this kind of neighborhood? What gives?

Can't grasp that either. I do know from traveling across the country it would baffle me to see campgrounds right next to the Interstate.

I live next to an interstate. The rush of cars can sound like a waterfall, so it makes total sense!

You know, it could have happend by accident. Let me explain.

In San Diego, there was NAS Marimar. the base was built. The Navy fighters always circle to the left off of an Aircraft Carrier when practicing touch and goes. Landings and take offs. They actually have a aircraft carrier painted on the runway so these guys could practice. The Marines, while using an aircraft carrier, always circle to the right. Well, this was Naval Air Station. So on the left hand side of the runway is the city dump. On the right hand side of the runway is where everybody started building homes. Really filled up with homes.

The jets would circle at about 1000 ft but they circled over the dump. Can you see where this is going? haha In about 1995, the Navy started closing bases. You saw it on the news. Well, NAS Marimar come on the chopping block and it was decided to close it down. BUT!!!!!! Instead of closing it down they did something else. The Marines were closing down bases also. They got together and gave NAS Marimar, to the Marines.

Now, all of the jets practicing touch and goes, circle at a thousand feet, over all of those nice homes.

What I'm leading to is I wonder if something like that happened in Lincoln? You know, city donated land to build the airport there so that it would be more accessable, hence giving it more use, getting more people in. Hard telling.

But like you say, what a waste. Course, now that I think about it, when I used to go to the beach or to the lake, I couldn't tell you if there were planes around or not. haha But those condo's have to be suffering.
