What areas (lower east side etc) are the best to buy in regarding current undervaluation and future valuation. I amy now move there for 5 years but I want to get an Idea for what to look for.

If you're talking about getting a purchasing deal, for investment purposes, you should look at up-and-coming neighborhoods. The lower east side has already come, as has most of Manhattan. Start looking north, Harlem, The Bronx. There are still a few deals in Red Hook, but in five years they will be gone.
