Stopped by a cop

Made it to NC finally after a three day ride from AZ. Got excited going through Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway with the beauty, the curves and that Carolina song I had in the back ground. I didn't notice how fast I was going but I did notice that patrol car sitting for me at the end of the last tunnel. He pulled me over and asked me if I knew how fast I was going, scolded me a bit and wished me luck with no ticket. I am not very superstitious but It was a sign of good luck for me.

Re: Stopped by a cop

When he asked if you knew how fast you were going, how did you respond?

Excellent response. I can understand why he let ya off.

I was stupid once and told the state cop that I thought I was going about 75 (speed limit was 70). Not only did I admit that I was going over the limit but gave up my 5th amendment rights right there and then. That's why they always ask that same question, to "coerce" you into admission.

I always tell kids now just to say "I don't know."

I was once threatened with a "wrecklass" driving ticket because I "Didn't know" hahaha So I tell them, "Oh I just creeped a little over, sorry." And live with what they give me.

A friend of mine gave the same reply out in NV once, but he still gave her a ticket. Probably did not help that she was headed west from Idaho (she was going to California), he asked where she was going and she said "home" Think she confuzzled him.

Didn't get any better from there, she mailed in a money order to pay for her ticket, did not keep the receipt from the MO and NV said they never got it and placed a bench warrant out on her. So, when she (re) paid it, she mailed it certified mail.

Ouch!!! I admit I don't think there is any magical formula to get out of a ticket. I just got lucky!
