Moving from michigan to North Carolina?

I am curious if anyone can tell me what it is like to live in NC and raise kids there. Also if anyone can give me a clue as to where the good schools are. We love being outside and think what better than to have the waters and mountains all in one. Any help would be apprecitated.

Much of North Carolina has high crime, bad schools, and a lack of water. I would stay in Michigan. I tried the move already from Minnesota and didn't like it. Don't believe all the hype from the 1000's of people from Long Island and New Jersey flocking there. If you do decide to make the move, rent for atleast a year before buying a home, so you can get back out easily.
