There was ice on the roads earlier and it will probably turn into ice again later tonight since it is still raining.

Is it flat around there or like here and a ton of hills?

Small hills. Mountains start just to the west of here though. They probably got even more snow.

at least then you won't be stranded. we were stuck here at home for days because of the ice on our street. Yet the street just below ours was passable!

I here it does this every 2 or three years. It's definitely not the norm right?

I have been in SC for 8 months. I moved from MA, and I do not miss that type of weather.

We will be moving in a week over there from AZ. We are having our house built so meanwhile we will be renting right there by Birkdale. Can you recommend any good restaurants?

Small world! What made you deside on SC?

I am not familiar with Birkdale, what is the closest city? In all honesty I have been dissapointed with restauraunts here.

Went for a family reunion a few years ago and fell in love. Then the wife looked up Lake Norman and my love became stronger. We have been there a punch of times since then to scout for a home. Bought one recently and here we come. I am very excited about this move. Huntersville is where Birkdale is at in NC.

Re: Snow in Charlotte

Ahh NC I see. Beautiful area! Can't not help with resturaunts there. I likely would have ended up in NC had I not fell in love with SC as well when visiting friends.
I was sitting with my friend after Thanksgiving dinner having coffee outside in 70 degree weather while they were shoveling snow up in MA. I was hooked.

Re: Snow in Charlotte

Bah!

Why don't we have any snow?! This is Northern Minnesota in February and the amount of snow on the ground in this picture is equivalent to what we have right now. The saddest part is that we haven't had any more than this the entire winter! This is by far, the strangest least-snow winter I have ever seen in my life.

About the comment someone made about bad drivers. In NC, I'm sure people aren't used to driving in snow, so there are way more accidents than compared to in the north where snow is (usually ) common in winter. We don't shut down when it snows. In fact, the last time I remember anything shutting down was when we had a blizzard that dropped two feet of snow here in a day and a half three years back. The only thing I don't like about drivers here is that many of them get overconfident in their ability to handle driving in snowy conditions and they get too pushy with other drivers who are trying to be more cautious simply because they don't want to get into an accident. As if having four-wheel drive makes you impervious to slipping on icy roads.

Re: Snow in Charlotte

We have ice mixed with snow a lot of the time here in NC...at least in central NC, and even people who are accustomed to driving on snow find it a little different to say the least. I remember my manager, who was from NY, laughing about the NC drivers...then the first snow/ice we had guess who went into the ditch as he was backing out of his driveway! And no, we didn't let him forget it!
