Restaurant Reviews: Portland breakfasts

Everyone loves a good breakfast. Here are some of my favorites:

Fat Alberts
6668 SE Milwaukie Ave
Portland, OR 97202

The best restaurant for breakfast that we have found in the Portland area. Can be a bit of a wait for a table for this little hole in the wall, but once you get seated, the service is fast and you will be eating in no time at all. They have an incredible selection of omlets (Try Kim's fav with salsa and sour cream!!!) and other standard breakfast foods. Pretty inexpensive, does not take credit or debit cards.

Cadillac Cafe
1801 NE Broadway St
Portland, OR 97232-1429

VERY popular place for breakfast (have not tried other meals) on the weekends. Often a 30-45 minute wait. The place has lots of pink neon and an actual classic Cadillac inside. The breakfasts are good and they offer a twoist to breakfast with some unique flavors.

Hawthorne Street Cafe
3354 SE Hawthorne Blvd (Cross Street: 34th Avenue)
Portland, OR 97214-5047

Decent breakfasts on the weekends and really strong coffee. We ate there on a weekday one morning and were disappointed. But the weekends seem to be consistant.

The Original Pancake House
8601 S.W 24th Ave.
Portland, Oregon 97219
The Original Pancake House

Long long waits on the weekends, but really good food!! Typical pancake house with lots of pancakes and waffles, as well as other breakfast foods. I found it odd that they do not serve hashbrowns

Re: Restaurant Reviews: Portland breakfasts

Now these sound like some places I can sink my teeth into! I'm a biig breakfast type o' guy! Not sure about the pink-neon in the mornings though!
I wonder if this "Original Pancake House" is at all associated with an old establishment of the same name found in Montgomery, Ohio - on the near-skirts of Cincinnati? I may be in the Portland area real soon and hope to try one of your suggested eateries. I have eaten two meals in Portland so far (not counting McDonald's). One was at a buffet I don't know the name of but the food and dessert was fantastic. Another was simply "Shari's" but I enjoyed my meal there as well. Thanks for the good info on where to eat breakfast in Portland. See you there!

Speaking of Breakfast, I want to bring up that Shari's Restaurant, a chain based in the NW, has one of the finest breakfast menu's I've seen in a long, long time. I had an afternoon meal at one a few years ago and recently had breakfast there in Tigard, OR. Great selection and good food - even a smoking section. Wish they had one in every town.

Shari's was the big hangout in the late 80's early 90's. Everyone would go there and drink coffee and smoke. It was like that all over the Portland Metro area. It is a decent restaurant with consistant food.

We are new to our area. I will have to check out some restaurants soon.
We have been to the Fireplace Restaurant on Rt. 6 in Tunkhannock and it's pretty good. Only been there once so far.

Another great restaurant is in Punta Gorda, Florida
It's in Fishermen's Village and it's called Bella Luna

That's a shame. Too far to drive from Portland.

No doubt!!! Opposite side of the country from us.

It is misty coastal weather here today. How is it at the coast? Yesterday was awesome, though. 73 at our house!!! It felt like tropical weather.

Re: Restaurant Reviews: Portland breakfasts

There's another great restaurant but in New Jersey. It's on Route 33.
It's called Luchento's. We did their cooking video. I am hungry now!Gosh, I am trying to loose weight for my son's wedding too. This is bad.
