| Breakfast in Lincoln City I have two great breakfast spots so far in Lincoln City - and one isn't even in town! The Otis Cafe is in the center of beautiful, downtown Otis, Oregon (4 bldgs). This looks like the old "whistle-stop" diners from the early 1900's! 5 booths, a couple tables and a half-dozen stools at the counter ... and one doggone good breakfast! Wonderful hashbrowns and German potatoes. Fantastic homemade breads including a wholewheat-sourdough and black molasses breads. They also have Pumpkin bread right now. This little joint was written up by the NY Times in '89 and by Martha Stewart's "Living Magazine" in 2002. Check them out at: www.otiscafe.tripod.com or contact them at: otiscafe@wcn.net . Right past city-center in Lincoln City, heading south and on the west side of 101 is Richens at the Beach. Great home-made foods and breads. You can find more info on them on this Oregon forum under "restaurant reviews".

The whole town of Otis was for sale a few years ago. You got all the buildings inlcuding the post office for $1,000,000. They said you even had the right to rename the town anything you wanted to. I have heard that they have an excellent breakfast from a few people, but have yet to stop there.

Don't worry about dressing-up! And be prepared to sit on the porch a few minutes waiting for the seat of your choice. The Otis Cafe was the first breakfast anybody here in Lincoln City recommended - but it's taken over 6 weeks to finally git 'er done. It's about 5 miles north then east out of Lincoln City on Rte 18 - at the corner of the old highway 101 and the new highway 101. Pottery Mugs, T-shirts and pies available. You can bet we'll make a return trip - maybe we'll see you there! *Incidentally, my browser pulled up an Otis Cafe in the Seattle area - sounds like a different sort of place but if anybody up that way gets a chance, I'd love to hear about it*
