| Met a Talkstater this week.....
My wife, 3 yo daughter, and myself went to the coast this weekend and we met up with Wyody and his lovely wife for dinner. VERY nice people. Next time you guys are in the Portland area, we will take you guys out to a nice restaurant. Sushi? ![]() It is kind of cool to meet people in person that you see all the time online. I know a couple of people that I met online that I sail with. The internet is a great tool, but it is even greater if that tool is used to let people meet new people in person. I highly recommend meeting others that post on here or other people you chat with on other forums.

| Re: Met a Talkstater this week..... I gotta tell ya: Anybody on here remember Angela Davis? THE Angela Davis?? Wild hair springing from her scalp like it was being launched? Uzi in one up-stretched hand and a 38-wheel in the other? Loud, dangerous? This is kinda what I was expecting of PDX. Now, I'm not the kind of fella to go divulging many secrets about folks ... but PDX was not that guy ... er ... gir .... Okay, imagine Angela Davis as a GUY. PDX was not that guy! A very intelligent and sophisticated man and couple. A cherished American family. Great company and a welcome addition to our evening. I'm also an uncle again. Never let her forget her "Uncle Rocky". And I'd bet everybody on this site is the same - as crazy or reserved as their typing fingers will allow them to be yet, a bunch of nice folks. I think we all should do that "Warm Brandy by the fireplace-thing". Maybe some Amaretto. We take off on each other so often - with the holidays coming, maybe we just all need to put on the warm fuzzys and sit by the fire while it snows outside ... that is, if T.S. can get moved soon enough so we don't have to seed any southern clouds.

LOL, you caught me. I am really an angry black woman trapped in a white man's body ![]() I found out early that if you look scary, and you talk scary, people will think you are scary. But, if you look normal, yet talk scary. They just might listen....

Good approach. I do like the younger generations - although the current batch pretty much worries me (they pierced WHAT??) - each one making progress while the last one shakes their head in disbelief. I just learned to walk heavily and carry a big Thunderbolt!! I think I would've made a good Catholic. (I just can't smoke that many cigars or drink that much wine).

| Re: Met a Talkstater this week..... Just thought I should take a moment and take care of a little business: PDX, Probably not for Sushi. Other ideas are encouraged should that time come. Also, I want to mention FATHOMS Restaurant - on the top floor of the Inn at Spanish Head. We'd eaten there for lunch a couple of times - an outstanding view from 10 stories above the ocean - a menu that will feed the Vegan, Vegetarian and the Normal. The dinner menu was jacked-up a bit but also had more items on it. I cannot get over the coconut-shrimp and the sauce. I thought the sauce was fantastic the last time I had coconut shrimp - which was in Oklahoma City - but this sauce was really good. Maybe I just don't get out enough - and it's only the second time in my life I've ordered Shrimp as an entree. They'd butterflied it really well and I was satisfied. What also struck me strange was the Pilaf. Admittedly, it's not something I order often but I've been eating a lot of "the new" lately, with my diet. I've had pilaf before - theirs was very good. Now, just to remain true to my Wyody roots, that piece of shrimp you left behind fit the low-spot in my shoe just perfect and lasted many hours and into the next day - which saved me a whole callous ... however, it did cost me a fairly good sock as the cat ate it.
