Looking for Residence New DT Portland

PDX, or anyone there.. I am coming up in April, need advice and a couple cheep places near DownTown. I like Goosehallow, and maybe even pearl.. it would be an easy commute to downtown where I need to be each day.. Unless you can suggest a better area, at first it will just be me, so I need a month to month or very short term rental, as the wife and kids will be coming up a month or two after me.

Pearl=$$$$$
Best way to recommend an area is know what price range you are looking at, and what kind of area you want. I have a preference for the eastside and if you hop a bus or max train, you can be downtown in 10-15 minutes.

Wont be much. As I will be attending school and working part time. The Wife will be working here until she and the kids come up and then we will need to find her a job up there as well. I only have a couple thousand saved up. I will be using that savings with our income tax to make the move. The School is helping out as well.. sorta.

Contact this company:

American Property Management Corp
2154 NE Broadway St # 200
Portland, OR 97232
(503) 284-2147

They own a ton of apartment buildings in the Portland area and see what they have. Let me know an area, address, or two cross streets and I will tell you if it is a good area or not.

BTW, I am not affiliated with this company, blah, blah, blah..... I have just rented from them in the past and they own everything!!!

Thank you.. I will contact them. I will do that... if I have any questions about an area.. you said the east side.. where abouts? Is it family friendly? Also I have 3 small dogs.. a Jack Russle, a Daughtson, and a Miniature pitbull. So I need a place dog friendly.

Just get all areas within a reasonable commute to your school and I will tell you the good areas. SW is family and dog friendly and so is Milwaukie, so just let me know what they got and I will help you out.

The school is on SW Morrison Street.

So what would be an easy commute to that area, and I will look into it. =)

What do you know of Brooklyn and Reed?

Since it is in downtown, you will want to take the bus or max train. You can live 10 miles out and have a 30-45 minute commute, which is great to read the paper or a book. 5 miles out will give you probably a 15-20 minute commute. The farther you get away from the center of downtown, the cheaper the rent.

Ok, so give me a good 45-60 min out from Downtown, with cheep rent where my kids will be safe have good schools, and I can have my pups. I really like the look of goose hallow. I hope the pay there is better than here.. and it will be enough to survive on.

LOL, Goose Hollow is not really a family area. I would not even recommend any of NW Portland for you, including the Pearl district.

Re: Looking for Residence New DT Portland

PDX, I stayed in a RV park out in Skamainia for 14 months and commuted to Swann island every day. We had some guys that rented corp Housing just south of down town. Took me less time to get to work. Butt I loved that commute, it is so pretty in there.
