Well, define "good shopping?" In Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, we have the following: Viewmont Mall, Dickson City: 80-Store Mall Anchored by Macy's, Sears, and JCPenney. Steamtown Mall, Downtown Scranton: 90-Store Mall Anchored by Steve & Barry's, Boscov's, and The Bon-Ton The Shoppes at Montage, Moosic: Upscale 60-Store "Lifestyle Center" slated to open in March. Wyoming Valley Mall, Wilkes-Barre: 90-Store Mall Anchored by JCPenney, The Bon-Ton, Sears, and Macy's. Viewmont Shopping District, Dickson City: Surrounding the Viewmont Mall, you'll find dozens of chain retailers and restaurants, some of which include Lowe's, Home Depot, Target, Wal-Mart Supercenter, Best Buy, Staples, Gander Mountain, Pier 1 Imports, Johnny Rocket's, Applebee's, Perkins, Starbucks, Men's Wearhouse, PetSmart, etc. Wilkes-Barre Township Shopping District, Wilkes-Barre Township: Ditto to the stores above, only in the Wilkes-Barre area instead of the Scranton area. Downtown Scranton: Home to a growing selection of boutiques, galleries, and restaurants.

Yes. You'd take Route 29 south from Tunkhannock (the road that the Wal-Mart is on) into Luzerne County. In Noxen, you'll pick up Route 309 South, and you'll follow this through Dallas and onto the Cross Valley Expressway, which zooms across Wilkes-Barre. You'll take Exit 1 and then bear right off the offramp onto Kidder Street. You'd then want to make your second left onto Mundy Street, which is the main drag with the Lowe's, Barnes & Noble, Dick's, Pier 1 Imports, Target, Panera Bread, etc. It should be around a 35-minute drive to Tunkhannock (perhaps a few more minutes depending on how far out of town you live).
