moving from Rhode island to houston, looking for best place to live that is urban?

I Need To Know The Best Place To Live In Houston With A Child I'm A Young Domincan Mother Who Will Be Leaving Rhode Island In May And Houston Is So Big I Don't Know Where To Begin. I Would Like A Urban Community Not To Expensive, Any Suggestions? Plus I Don't Know Any One Or Anything In Houston And It Is Kind Of Overwhelming.

Stay out of Houston if you can. In other words, try to live on the northern, western, or southern outskirts.
