My husband & I want to move to South Carolina, but what city?

My husband is a machinist (for 30 years) and I have begun a career as a payroll processor after being an admin assistant for 25 years. How are jobs in South Carolina? We want to rent, not buy, live in a nice area without too great a distance for commuting to work. We love nascar and riding our goldwing. College football is big on my list, although my alma mater is in the Pac-10, I can get used to the SEC!

Check out the Greenville/Spartanburg area. It is a decent size metro area, but not huge. You can take scenic motorcycle rides through the mountains nearby. Clemson University is about 30 miles away for College football games, and Columbia is about a 1.5 hour drive if you prefer the USC Gamecocks. Charlotte and Atlanta are each about 2 hours away for Nascar races.
