Moving from Maine to South Carolina for college...good idea, or not?

Im a junior in high school this year. So next summer im planning on moving south for college and probably for the rest of my life. Iv lived in maine my whole life so far and im sick of the winters and cold weather. Im probably going to be moving by myself, which is kind of scary but im looking to find someone from SC/NC that moved there for college from any of the nothern stated maybe for some insite about what its like and how different my life will be. But even if your from SC any insite about the state would be helpful, i want to feel like im making a good choice by moving far from maine.

Hey, I did that a few years ago! SC is nice and warm, it hardly ever snows, it's green all year, and it has nice beaches. NC gets a little colder. Sometimes I miss the snow in Maine, but only from the inside of a warm house. Not while driving, that's for sure.

However, get ready for a bit of culture shock. It's very religious down here, and they haven't repealed all the blue laws (Maine did years ago). And everything is deep fried. And everything moves very slowly. But hey, it's nice and warm, so you can easily put up with that.

I don't know if you're going for public or private, but look into Clemson University, Furman, Woffard, and UNC Chapel Hill.
