| Pictures of Columbia South Carolina
Just some random shots I took a couple weekends ago on a day trip to Columbia with my brother. It looks like they are doing a good job trying to clean up their downtown area, and their "new" main street is looking nice, but 1 block in either direction is still looking old, run down, and poor. The USC Gamecocks football stadium looked huge, I did not get a picture of it though. I think the drive was a little under 1.5 hours from my place in south Charlotte. The nearest beach is probably somewhere around Charleston which is about a 2 hour drive from Columbia. | |

yeah, main street isn't really a hot spot. The Vista, which is near the capitol building, is pretty cool. It is several blocks of restaurants and shops that run down Gervais Street. Also, the USC/5 Points area is a good area. It has always been the place for the college age crowd.

| Re: Pictures of Columbia South Carolina You can get to the Grand Strand or Charleston's beaches (Sullivans Iland, Folly Beach, Kiawah Island, Isle of Palms) in roughly 2 hours. It sometimes takes closer to 3 hours in the summertime.
