OTOH, you are living in a state with no state income tax and the weather probably isn't any worse than any other state in middle America. I've lived in NY and Calif and it can be just as boring, just more expensive. Milk, bread and eggs are the same all over, just priced differently. Ppl all over do the same thing-- go to movies, watch cable tv and go to the mall. I know that some ppl say that some cities are great bc you can go to the opera or symphony, but seriously, how many ppl REALLY to to the opera/symphony? Maybe you can find more things to do in a bigger city in TN like Memphis or Nashville. I was in Memphis recently and it was really nice being in a real American city with regular American food and not having to say to ppl: "please speak English."If you want to visit or move to another city, it's up to you. NY is a nice city to visit (lots of activities), but you will have to decide if you want to live there. Many New Yorkers wouldn't live anywhere else, but OTOH, there are New Yorkers who move out bc it is just too expensive.

The Bay Area is the best place to live in but its also one of the most expensive. They have the most beautiful mountains, rivers, valleys, ocean, bay in the USA. Cleanest cities in the world and highest paying jobs. Perfect weather year round and you would never run out of things to do with 3 major cities all in one area (San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland) and Santa Cruz beach and boardwalk and all the best food in the country and so many choices. Im not even from there but I lived there for 5 years and Ive lived in PA, FL, NY and CA and its definately the best place to live. San Francisco was rated by Forbes magazine as highest quality of life (basically means you will live happier, have more options and just all around more bang for your buck) and San Jose was rated as lowest crime rate for any city of its size. Ebay, Google, Yahoo, Cisco, Apple all chose to start their companies there for good reasons. They have more diversity than any other area too. Asians, Mexicans,Indians, Native Americans, Whites, Blacks all living together equally.
