Re: San Antonio

Wow. You know Hubby and I were cruising the internet looking at San Antonio homes this weekend. The prices are so cheap. Is there a bad side of town, areas folks shouldn't buy a home in?

How about the humidity? Is there any green in San Antonio? Why are the homes so cheap. How close is it to the Mountain areas?

Re: San Antonio

oh dear god. it's BLAZING hot there. unreal hot. and humid - my gaaawd!

cheap & HUGE! it's very true that everything in texas is big. food, houses, hair. ;p

i grew up on the north side of san antonio... up 35 North heading towards Austin. loved it. now it's completely blown up with subdivisions and retail sprawl. so i guess it would depend on what you are looking for. urban sprawl or open space kind of texas.

Well that explains the cheap price of homes. Is there anywhere in Texas that isn't hot and humid?

hmmmmmmmmmm... nope.

seriously. i grew up in san antonio... moved to corpus christi for 2 years with the navy and the humidity was even worse down there by the water. mosquitos the size of armadillos! (which are extremely mean and nasty critters!)

most of my extended family is still in houston... another WONDERFUL place! but congested.

have many friends in dallas that love it there. it's the high society city... but still damn hot. big city congestion, too.

i sound like i'm brow beating my home state - i swear i'm not trying to. i just can't get past the tortuous heat. november to april it's a wonderful place to be! :D

but hands down, san antonio has got the best eats anywhere! everytime i go 'home' i gain at least 10 pounds. for real!

I'm totally with you regarding the food in San Antonio! I miss Chacho's and Taco Cabana and Papasito's and even the little hole-in-the-wall places that are just yummy.

I have no clue as to what you're talking about, but Lara may know.

I really didn't think San Antonio was very humid...I did at first, but then I moved to Baton Rouge which was incredibly humid with a negative breeze. (worse than no breeze at all)

Hi Lara. Pappasito's has the thinnest tortilla chips I've ever tasted...paper thin and yummy! We actually just took a friend of ours to Pensacola on Tuesday for an appointment. I LOVE Pensacola Beach...especially Surfburger...laid-back, pleasant atmosphere and great food...what more can you ask for?!? It's always humid around here, I agree, but at least with the gulf so close, there always seems to be a breeze that makes it bearable. I'm a beach lover, though, so it's my paradise.

80% Mexican....... probably 40% of those are illegals... Stuff is cheap, however wages are cheap as well. I live in SA and work in Louisiana. I can hardly wait to move out of this town. It's dirty in a lot of places, dirty city, dirty people. Reminds me of Mexico when I had been down there on vacation a few years ago.

San Antonio has lots of humidity, and the summers BAKE. I hate the heat, I gotta get outta here! No mountains!

Re: San Antonio

Hmmm...all I'm going to say is that I would live in San Antonio any day compared to southern Louisiana. Hot, ultra-humid and almost never a breeze. Just my opinion. The San Antonio housing market is excellent. There are pro's and con's...just like everywhere.
