I am feeling really down and defeated today.. I want to move but I don't think I am ready too yet. I may just wait and kick my kids out of the house and then quietly move away and not tell there where. =) I love my kids and wife but there are days the thought of being single again sounds like a great deal.. and I feel bad for thinking that way.

Hey Pan, we all reflect on the good old days when we had no one to care for but ourselves. But the truth is without our families we are just lonesome souls in a world that doesn't care about us. It is the people in our lives that make us special to the world. It is family. Sometimes the weight on our backs, taking care of the ones we love, is tiresome and makes us wish for greener pastures. I'm telling you...you are in the greenest pasture in this world right now. You just can't see it. Step back and reflect on what your life would have been like with out those folks. I have the weirdest ablility to picture my life, with one of them suddenly gone. I quickly realize life is grand and it don't get any better. Kids drive you nuts, and even spouses do sometimes. But we are not perfect either, and don't you ever wonder if they wish we were gone...on our really bad, ugly days. I read the ob's today about a friends mother passing away last week. The thing most noticeable in the ob was this "She always lived her life...believing the cup half full...and most days full to the brim. How she would laugh at jokes that weren't even funny and always found joy in her children and grandchildren." I hope someone writes that about me some day. What a tribute. How about you... Izzy

Mostly Izzy.. I just want out of El Paso. I really hate it here.. this city brings me down. When I was in Mississippi, and got to drive down along the cost and see the green and water and feel the sticky wet salt air, I felt so alive. I want that again.. but I know I have to wait. I need to fix some credit issues, and get some money saved and get a second car for the wife, and then when my ducks are aligned make that move. the house we live in is the one I grew up in, the one my grandma died in, and there are so many ghost here it is really hard on me. When my wife or kids talk down about this house or tear something up or get into something I have stored away and toss it or trash it, I want to come unglued. Things that my grandmother had when she was a little girl, and I have held onto have been tossed.. my wife spent a jar of wheat pennies my grandmother and I collected for a pack of cigs.. I almost left her over that.. it hurt me bad.. the lack of respect. There have been things that have taken place recently that make me really consider divorce. But then I look at them sleeping and count my blessings. Thanks Izzy.. I would write some really nice stuff for you.. I don't expect anyone to come to my funeral.. I'm a real asshole, they may come to dance on my ashes though. =)

It is a pain when our lives are put on hold by finances. More so when you are a person like me who likes to act on the moment and go for it. But age and burnt fingers have made me careful about moving to fast on impulse.:) A door will close and a window will open. Just wait for it to feel right in your head and heart. You sound like you need to be near the ocean to lift your spirits. Izzy

Yeah weird huh.. I am not a big fan of water sports, or getting in it.. but I love to stand on yonder shore and peer out over the open water.

I was planning on the Gulf Coast of Texas myself, but the hurricanes spooked me and reading about the pollution killed the excitement. I figured there was no point in living next to a (warm) ocean if I didn't feel safe to go in it. I was about sold on Port Lavaca (stable, moderately sized population = good) until I read the whole superfund thing about it. You could always take a weekend or two and visit some of these places. See if any look pleasant to you, then do some research on 'em. At least that's my plan if I ever decide to move again. Now I can take a cheap bus to go to different towns instead of flying 4000 miles each way, so instead of spending months on fruitless intarweb searches I can just go somewhere. Heck, I'm in the mood to roam around looking at the Texas scenery, anyway. I'm here, afterall.

Hurricanes don't scare me. They tend to say, hey I am a Hurricane and I am coming at you.. and you get a couple day's warning. So you pack up and head north and west, since they break east when they hit. Then you go back and hope your house is still there, if not, you file that claim and start over, if so you take down the boarding, and clean up any mess and go back to living. You get a mentality about these things. When I was in Gulfport, you are around a bunch of people that live though them, one of the largest ( Katrina ) and then you kinda listen to what they say about the storms and you learn what to do. The whole Texas Gulf is not that bad.. I will admit its not that pretty green like you see in Florida, but its not bad either. The Wet lands in Texas tend to filter the water pretty good, so if there is any pollution its from other parts or from out in the gulf. Speaking of We are headed down to Corpus next week. And Galveston too.. gonna do the Gulf tour and see what we like.
