I do all this? I want to move out because of the lack of support from my parents, and because of a multitude of reasons. I'm getting a job this summer that pays $8.50/Hour, and am a good photographer and somewhat talented in music. I have my own recording studio, and have a bunch of stuff you would find in a home/apartment that I've bought. I turn 17 this summer, and need to know what to do! If you can, leave a URL of a legal information about minors in texas, thanks!

At 17 you can leave your parents if they sign a consent form, and you prove your able to take care of yourself to the court, have a place to go, a job, or join the military. But legally your not able to leave till your 18th Birthday, if you do, by Texas law your parents have to report you as a run-away. You will be picked up and arrested. If you decide to stay out for 24 hours straight and not tell them where you are, they have to report you as a run-away. If they don't they can be charged with neglect. Stupid I know, but thats Texas.

So, without going through some special process, if you want to move out early, you can't, but your parents can kick you out the day you turn 18? That seems rather ridiculous that you're not allowed to try to make it on your own until the day your parents can kick you out. Imagine being served an eviction notice and only being allowed to leave the day of - not one day earlier, nor one day later. IMO there should be like 6 months - a year leeway between a person being able to move out and their parents being able to kick them out. I guess that might be complicated to enforce, though.
