I received a first offense DWI in Dallas County almost two years ago.

It's still pending but I want to move.. My lawyer says not to plea out because I could win the case (if I pay him an additional $4000). I don't care about that anymore...I want to move back to VT where I'm from. The lawyer, however, says even if I do plea I won't be able to move out of state until my probation is complete. I think he's a liar, truly. Two years ago I spent 3 days in jail and lost my license for a year so the only remaining punishment would be fines and possible probation.

This is my first EVER problem with the law...I've never even had a traffic ticket before. Does anyone know anything that can help me make this decision? Can I transfer probation? Any thoughts would really help. Thank you!

You can leave anytime you like, just don't miss a court date, and stay in touch with your lawyer. But I think your lawyer is more concerned with the image of you leaving may cause. If you can win it then win it and then move.. because you wont get any other state lic. as long as this one is tied up, and if you drive without a lic., and your a repeat offender you can and will goto jail.
