Moving to a new city (Houston, TX). Find a job first or an apartment?

I am relocating to Houston with one child. Lately I've been looking for apartments. But which is best to do as far as looking first...a job or an apartment?

Why would you take a kid to a new city without a job or a house? I can see you going alone to find a job, you can always live your car but to drag your kid without any sort of stability is stupid and irresponsible...on the other hand if you have a place to stay while you look for a job I'd say find a job then a place of your own....you've gotta have money for an apartment first right?

If you have some cash set back to get you through, you might get an apartment. Pound that pavement, though. Many apartments will require you make a certain amount, so you need to find a job.

Go home, stay with your parents (if it is safe) until you have enough money to get by. Your child needs the stability.

Duff, not all is as easy as moving back home with mommy and daddy.. you really need to stop with these blanket statements, and judgments.

I never move any place with out some where to go. So my advice would be to secure employment and a place to live online first then move. If you can save up enough to pay rent and feed yourselves for 2 months, that would give you a chance to find employment, and get you a couple pay checks to pay the 3rd month and so on.. flip burgers at first if you have to and keep looking for better employment. There are a lot of people that make this sorta move every day.. just plan it out and make the best decision for that baby of yours.. after all anything you do is for the betterment of that child.. so do it right.
