Really? I live in Northern Minnesota and you can see the ground. We should have at least a solid foot of it this time of year. It's ridiculous. Everyone else is getting snow it seems.

Don't remember Dallas getting snow... Hummmmm... Not sure how I should respond to this obviously ill-informed post...

When we moved out of Texas (in fact when we move out from anywhere it seems), the weather was horrible!!! Maybe it didn't help any that we seem to pick mid-winter to move. Heck, it's cheaper to rent a van then right?

We were headed from Houston to Colorado via Amarillo (mother-in-laws place). We only made it to Abilene and we were stuck there for two days. The Dallas area is known for getting bad ice storms during particularly bad winters. I remember it happening on more than one occasion when I was passing through the state.

Then, when we got to Amarillo, they had a record snowfall, 27" of snow!!! Remember: We are talking about Texas here... Man, it was unbelievable! Even more unbelievable was my 82-year-old mother-in-law who shoveled off the driveway before we arrived...

I won't bore you with the details about moving out of Colorado. We got stuck twice, once in the front yard, and almost slid off the side of a mountain... But I digress...

My bad... Like I said I don't Remember Dallas getting snow. And from watching the news today...they are talking about areas in TX that haven't seen snow in more years than they can count. I should call the network and tell them they are wrong.

Re: Snow in Dallas

I lived in Grand Prairie Texas for 4.5 years. It's located right between Dallas and Ft. Worth. In that time period, we actually got snow once. Oh we had a skiff a few times, but this particular time it actually snowed about 4-5 inches. When I got up in the morning, there was only about an inch on the ground. My phone rang. The plant manager was calling and he said, "Don't try to get to work." I simply told him, I'm from Wyoming, this is nothing. He said, "I'm not worried about your abilities, I'm worried about the 3 million other people out there that don't know how to drive in it, running into you." I went to work anyhow. It was only 1 mile. haha By noon we had about 5 inches. By 10 the next morning, it was gone.

I was in Austin visiting with a customer and we got one of those good old Texas Ice storms. About 2 inches of solid ice on the roads. No I'm not talking packed snow. It was like it rained and as it hit the ground, it froze. The other engineer and I were in a hotel that didn't have a restaurant. I said, "Come on, we're going to get something to eat." He said you can't drive on that. I said, get dressed, I'll warm up the rental. I drove about 3 miles to a Wendy's and we went in and had some good old Wendy's chili.
